How do I sell on Google Shopping and what is the process?

Process

  1. Connect your shopping cart in Zentail.
    • To sell on Google Shopping with Zentail, you need a shopping cart (i.e. Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento). 
  2. Google Merchant Center:
    • If you already have a Merchant Center account, let us know the Merchant Center ID and admin email address. Zentail will contact Google and have them link your Merchant Center ID to our Merchant Center master account. This will require an email reply by you to their confirmation request. You will need to approve Zentail's request to manage your Merchant Center.
    • If you do not have a Merchant Center account, we will create one for you and walk you through the steps for website validation.
  3. Google Adwords:
    • If you already have an Adwords account, let us know your Adwords customer ID. Zentail will link it to our Adwords master account, you will need to approve this change by following instructions provided via email to your admin email address.
    • If you do not already have an Adwords account, we will create one for you and invite you as an Admin.
  4. Next, we will connect your Google Merchant Center account with your Google Adwords account if this is not already complete.
  5. Google Analytics
    • If you do not already have an account, create one and invite google@hdtradeservices.com as a User with 'Edit' permission. (guide)

  6. Categorize your SKUs in Zentail with the appropriate Google Shopping Category. 
    • For many of your SKUs, this is done automatically via Smart Types.
  7. Zentail's tech team will configure your Google Shopping product data feed and Adwords strategy:
    • SKUs will flow into your Merchant Center, Zentail will optimize your feed based on category requirements and errors due to missing data. You will be responsible for adding any missing required data in Zentail for your SKUs.
    • Zentail will ask you for your daily budget and your desired Effective Commission (adspend / attributable revenue). We recommend $100 daily budget and 15% Effective commission.
    • Zentail will implement your initial strategy based on our analysis of your product catalog.
    • Zentail will automatically optimize your cost-per-click bids based on key data points including conversion rate.
    • An Adwords certified engineer will oversee your campaign and make adjustments to ensure your Effective Commission is achieved and stable. If your daily budget is not sufficient to address the demand for your catalog on Google Shopping, the engineer will request permission to raise your daily budget.

Google Customer Reviews is a highly recommended free service managed within your Google Merchant Center. You simply add a code snippet to your website which tracks your purchase data and encourages shoppers to review their experience shopping your website. This program increases your conversion rate by inspiring buyer confidence and is a fantastic way to differentiate your brand.

We recommend that you sign up if and only if you feel you can provide 4.5/5 service or higher.

Google Shopping Feed
