How do I merge my FBM and FBA SKUs?

Last updated about 5 years ago

Managing your FBM and FBA SKUs separately presents the following critical limitations:

  • You can't list duplicate SKUs that share the same UPC to channels like Jet and Walmart.
  • You can't have product ("variant") groups that contain duplicate SKUs -- no channels will allow the same unique product to be provided as 2 separate SKUs.
  • You need to manage each SKU separately which is inefficient.
  • Reporting is overly complicated as each SKU would be a separate line item.
For these reasons, we recommend merging your FBM and FBA SKUs together in Zentail. This process essentially adds your FBM inventory into your FBM warehouse in Zentail. It helps to standardize your catalog.

Merging SKUs only occurs on Zentail. It is only necessary when you have both an FBA and MF version of the same product. More specifically, you have an FBA SKU for one ASIN and a MF SKU for the same exact ASIN. Merging SKUs allows you to manage one "standardized" SKU for your inventory across different warehouses (in most cases- an FBA warehouse and your Main (or Merchant) warehouse). It also allows you to keep track of all of your sales data and analytics within one SKU.

After two SKUs are merged on Zentail, the FBA version survives as the standardized value, and the MF SKU gets archived on Zentail. The MF SKU will still be active on your Amazon account since Amazon requires different SKUs for FBA versus MF inventory.
