Ebay Error Message: Duplicate name-value combination in variation specifics

Last updated over 6 years ago

This error occurs when you have a product group you're trying to list to eBay. However, at least two of the SKU's don't actually vary at all and eBay thinks that they are duplicates. eBay won't let you list duplicates.

Two common reasons this error occurs are:
  • A SKU is mislabeled (wrong color, size, etc...) and therefore isn't varying as it should be
  • The SKU's actually are identical and should not be grouped together
If a SKU is mislabeled, simply go into the mislabeled SKU and correct the attribute. Save your changes, 'Update & Push' for eBay and it will get listed shortly.

If the SKU's are identical, please un-group them. You should either make one of them an alias or archive one of them. Please note that eBay will not let you list duplicates from your catalog at all.

Here's how you can determine if you have duplicates in your grouping:

  1. Open the SKU receiving the error and click on the 3-vertical dots => Edit Product Group:
  2. Scroll through the list of products and identify any duplicates:
If you notice a duplicate, you can edit the attribute directly in this screen or you can select that SKU and edit it on a new page.
