Gear has been designed to be a completely wireless solution, meaning you don't have to fuss around with wall outlets at all. 

The solar power module is a combination of an internal lithium polymer battery that is continuously recharged via a solar panel and space for 12 AA backup battery slots. The solar panel module will fit snugly behind the top of your shade and ensure that you never have to worry about replacing or recharging batteries.

The alkaline batteries alone are tested to power the Gear for 1 year of normal usage. Normal usage is defined as completely raising and lowering your shades - 2 times a day.
