Learners must listen to each self-directed audio recording while following along with the visual slides and complete an evaluation form to receive a certificate of completion. Your chosen sessions must be viewed in their entirety.  Partial credit of individual sessions is not available. For Enduring APA and New York Boards of the Professions credits, you are also required to pass a posttest with a score of at least 80%.  If you are seeking continuing education credit for a specialty not listed below, it is your responsibility to contact your licensing/certification board to determine course eligibility for your licensing/certification requirement.

Social Workers (ASWB) Credit Designation

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Amedco is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Amedco maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 16.00 GENERAL continuing education credits.

Objectives - After Attending This Program You Should Be Able To
1.       Apply techniques to build trust while conducting an initial assessment.
2.       Discuss how to build therapeutic rapport with Adolescent clients using adolescent-friendly language.
3.       Discuss steps to conduct a brief intervention to overcome resistance from reluctant clients.
4.       Explain the ‘ABC’s of behavior change’.
5.       Employ methods to assist clients on how to see that mindfulness can be fun.
6.       Apply techniques to overcome resistance and win over reluctant clients.
7.       Employ ‘connect and reflect’ techniques and exercises to identify and understand the client’s core values.
8.       Explain the ‘Choice Point’ technique.
9.       Discuss how to use mindfulness for emotional dysregulation.
10.    Explain ‘Creative Hopelessness’ technique and how to give compassionate validation to the client’s reactions.
11.    Discuss how to identify core values and how to translate them into committed action.
12.    Implement steps to handle rejection and how to bounce back from failure bouncing back from failure and motivating the unmotivated using the concept of ‘workability’.
13.    Explain how to use the concept of ‘workability’ to undermine self-defeating behavior.
14.    Identify ‘not good enough’ self-sabotaging thoughts.
15.    Implement methods to help clients overcome self-esteem and body issues, worrying and rumination.
16.    Explain and identify ‘bubble wrap’ thoughts and implement exercises to overcome these types of negative thoughts.
17.    Describe ‘flexible attention’ using ‘cardboard tubes’ metaphor.
18.    Explain the range of creative ways to implement ACT processes including drawing, painting, and photography.
19.    Discuss techniques to help clients reframe from negative thoughts and feelings.
20.    Employ methods to help clients reinforce new behaviors.
21.    Discuss techniques to overcome painful thoughts or feelings.
22.    Employ methods to overcome barriers of acceptance.
23.    Explain techniques which will help in preparing for setbacks.
