The Happiness Trap program is first and foremost an educational program designed to teach you tips and techniques to build a rich and meaningful life. Although it is based on a model of therapy called ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy), the program itself is not specifically designed as a treatment for depression or other clinical disorders.
Therapy involves, amongst other things, your life history, your biology and your environment. These important factors about you fall outside of the scope of this program and as such, it is not therapy. The principles and tools of the program can however be used very successfully in conjunction with therapy. If you are seeing a therapist, we recommend you ask them to take a look at what the program involves and ask them whether they think the program is right for you.
