What is capping?

Last updated over 3 years ago

Capping allows customers to tap a contactless card or mobile device e.g. phone or watch, to pay for their ticket when they board and depart the bus. Instead of payment being taken immediately, it’s taken at the end of the day.

The amount of money taken from the card is based on the number of journeys the customer has made but will be capped at an introductory fare of £5.50 for the day. This means that the customer will never pay more than £5.50, no matter how many journeys they have made that day – as long as they tap their card each time they board and depart the bus.
